creation date:2023-10-27

On Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, the College of International Education received a visit from the educational exchange delegation of Dr. Buhmannschule/ESO Hannover from Germany. The college organized an international education exchange seminar as well as traditional Chinese cultural experience activities. This visit from the German delegation was also the first international exchange program hosted by the college after the pandemic.

First and foremost, Dai Ying, the Executive Vice Dean of the college, extended a warm welcome to the German delegation for their visit. She expressed her hope that this exchange would serve as a gateway to future collaboration and in-depth cooperation. Ms. Dai stated that, with the focus on the international education, Shanghai Business School vigorously cooperates with other universities on the international humanity and education and continuously enriches exchanges. Even during the epidemic, we kept close contact with global universities through online media in an innovative manner. After the pandemic, the college proactively invited universities from around the world to visit our campus, aiming to expand cooperation and promote cultural exchanges.

Later, Zeng Shiyin, who is in charge of the international student enrollment and external cooperation briefly introduced college condition, enrollment requirements, educational programs, and international exchange programs. The two sides fully discussed about the 2+2 education program, charge standards, and the implementation of international exchange programs. The delegation spoke highly of how our university organized and conducted the international exchange programs and a preliminary consensus has been reached on conducting in-depth international exchange programs next year.

In order to better demonstrate the cultural activities for students in SBS, we invited students from the Tea Art Club and Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothes) Club to organize the unique cultural experience activities for German students. The Tea Art Club introduced the long history and origins of Chinese tea culture, along with various methods for making, using and tasting tea. After watching tea art performances and demonstrations, German students were eager to experience Chinese tea art culture firsthand. The fragrance of jasmine tea brought a unique experience to the German students. The Hanfu Club began with a fashion show displaying clothing from the Sui and Tang Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, showcasing the evolution of clothing throughout different dynasties. The colorful, glamorous, and elegant costumes left a lasting impression on the German students. Students from the Hanfu Club also introduced the origins of Hanfu and the traditional bowing etiquette from different dynasties. The German students were eager to try on the ancient Hanfu and respectfully bowed their heads to the audience.

In order to help German students better understand the campus life of SBS, we also organized them to visit the teaching buildings, information center, Swan Lake, etc., which left a very deep impression on them. It also brings a successful conclusion to this international exchange.

Our college is actively exploring the expansion and implementation of international educational exchange in the post-epidemic era. As the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind continue to advance in depth, building a more brand-effective international education exchange and cooperation platform will be the focus of work in the future. We will rely on the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) and put international student education at a key place to organically combine the  “going out” and “bringing in” of education. Also, we will seize opportunities of international development against such background, and implement the concepts of cultural exchanges, mutual learning of civilizations, educational co-construction, and resource sharing into practice. The college is committed to strengthening connections with foreign universities and establishing Shanghai Business School as a prestigious brand for studying abroad, and all staff members will actively work towards enhancing the international influence of our university.
